What is your background?
I started my training as an accountant, over the last 30 years I have built on my financial expertise learning about sales and marketing, strategy and organisational development and how these elements all work together to make a business successful. I am now an International Business Consultant working with some of the world's leading businesses and leading UK Universities.
How did you get into training?
Training was a natural progression for me after a period of running businesses that were experiencing challenges - either financially or from a marketing or strategic perspective. I enjoyed the team and one to one coaching aspects and also facilitating workshops that opened up new routes to prosperity for the business.
What is your favourite course that you love to teach?
I love teaching and exploring strategy, marketing and finance - they are all so inter related... you cannot have one without the other. It’s like trying to make a cake without one of the main ingredients missing! I like to work with up to date case studies featuring real time businesses. Right now I am developing a series of case studies related to the challenges facing the Royal Mail Group in a more open and competitive market place and in driving change to their business models and working practices
What training experience are you most proud of?
For 8 years from 2000, I helped to design and lead a Global Business Leadership programme for one of the worlds leading Healthcare and Science businesses that touched over 360 high potential leaders in every part of the world. In the 2007 Leadership Awards Program 95% of those being recognised for their leadership capability graduated from the Global Leadership Program.
I have a wide range of international experience working at all levels in the business. I research, design and deliver learning and training programmes and support them with professional coaching. My personal commitment to the delegates goes well beyond the commercial contract. I see it as providing a life time of support....where needed.
Why are you passionate about training?
Even the best need training and development and those operating at the highest level in any field, be it sport, drama or business recognise the benefit of a good coach and of continuing training programmes. The best performing businesses recognise the importance of investing in their people.
What else inspires / drives you / are you passionate about (when you’re not training)?
I love to travel, meet people and find out about their cultures and customs. I enjoy good music, good food and good wine and I collect British Stamps!
